Custom & In-Stock Area Rugs in Santa Barbara
The right area rug pulls a room together. It warms up a hardwood floor, softens a tile or resilient floor, and gives a living room or bedroom its own personality. At Michael Renga Flooring, we make custom area rugs from any carpet in our collections, and we keep a selection of ready-made rugs in stock. Since 1981, our family-owned Santa Barbara showroom has been helping people across the South Coast find the perfect rug for the space they have.
Custom Area Rugs Made Your Way
Every carpet we carry can become a custom rug. That opens up a huge range of colors, textures and fibers, and you get a rug cut to the exact size your room needs. It works like this:
Pick a product. Browse our wool, nylon, sisal, sea grass and other carpet collections in the showroom.
Pick your size. Tell us the dimensions, or bring a sketch of the room and furniture layout, and we'll help you work out what fits.
Pick an edge finish. We offer several edge styles at different price points, and most of our carpets can take most of them; we'll show you which finishes work with the carpet you choose.
It's a great way to get a designer rug that matches your floors, your furniture and your style, in a size you won't find off the shelf.
Which Fiber Is Right for Your Rug?
Wool: soft, natural and luxurious, the "Cadillac" of fibers.
Nylon: tough and stain resistant, great for busy family rooms.
Sisal: a durable natural texture; it can be slippery, so we keep it off stairs.
Sea grass: a smooth natural fiber that resists stains and dirt.
Our Which Carpet Fiber Is Best? guide goes deeper on each one.

Rugs That Work With Your Floors
Since we also sell and install hardwood, carpet and resilient flooring, we can help you plan the floor and the rug together. Bring in a sample of your floor, or ask us to pull rug options alongside the hardwood or LVP you're considering, so everything works as one design. A rug is also one of the easiest ways to protect a hardwood floor in high-traffic areas, which is why we recommend them in our Flooring Care & Maintenance tips.
For Homes, Offices and Designers
Custom rugs aren't only for living rooms. We make them for offices, entries and hallways, and we work with designers, contractors and property managers who need a specific size or look for a client or property. Tell us about your project and we'll help you choose the right product.
Visit the Showroom
The best way to choose a rug is to see and feel the options in person. Stop by our showroom at 2610 De La Vina Street, Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM, or call or email to get started. We'll check stock, pull samples and put together pricing for you.
